Broken Arrow leaders were flooded with anti-Muslim emails on a proposed mosque. Here’s what they said behind closed doors.
What started with a records request in January became a months-long reporting project exploring the implications of Broken Arrow City Council’s decision to reject what would have been the city’s first mosque. The Department of Justice is investigating and the Islamic Society of Tulsa has filed suit, citing emails revealed in the Flyer’s reporting. I co-wrote the story and coordinated visuals, including graphics, social media videos and photos, for the project.
